    Elvira's Restaurant
Established in 1927 Elvira's Restaurant of Nogales, Mexico is now in Tubac, Arizona bringing you the best Mexican cuisine and award winning dishes! Come and enjoy our new restaurant with its vibrant design.

Chef Ruben Monroy, who has degrees in graphic arts and interior design, selected and purchased all the furnishings and wide-ranging blend of traditional and contemporary Mexican arts and crafts that adorn the bright and lively new location during many trips throughout his native country.
He painted the restaurant himself, with a series of electric blue walls, decorated with colorful dots. “I decided to change the whole design of the restaurant with a blend of traditional to fun and funky items. I want people to come and get a taste of the new and old Mexico, and experience not just the food, but the culture, the colors and the spirit,” he said.
After he completed his studies in interior design and graphic arts, Monroy headed off for cooking school in Mexico City to become a chef. He creates all the recipes and does much of the cooking at the new location, his preference being for “more inventive cuisine.”

Santa Cruz Chili & Spice Company
Our Spice Center in Tumacacori is located in the heart of the historic Santa Cruz Valley. The Mission of San Jose de Tumacacori was founded first by the Jesuits in the 1690s. The church, which still stands today, was built in the early 1800s. The Presidio of San Ignacio de Tubac, the oldest of three Spanish military outposts, was established here after an Indian rebellion in 1751. By the late 1800s the valley was dotted with ranches, and mining camps, dominated by dauntless cattlemen and prospectors.

Santa Cruz Chili & Spice Company is both a manufacturer and retailer of fine chili products. At our Spice Center in Tumacacori we sell, along with Santa Cruz Products, a wide variety of gourmet Southwestern foods, cookbooks and a large selection of spices and herbs. We also have a quaint Western Museum documenting the rich history of the area.

This is the home of the Santa Cruz Chili & Spice Company. The business is small. It is family-owned. It is a source of pride. The chili products reflect the unique mixture of Mexican and Western cultures that are so much a part of the Santa Cruz Valley. The flavors are pure and authentic. They represent the valley's rich heritage. You are invited to experience a part of the heritage; to share in its traditions. Bienvenidos.

We are located just north of exit 29 off of Interstate 19 on the East frontage road.

Drop by to see the museum artifacts, sample our unique chili pastes and sauces, find that spice you have been looking for or just soak up the rich history and heritage of this special land.

Tubac Presidio State Historic Park was due to close in March, 2010 when the Arizona Legislature swept Arizona State Parks funds. The community of Tubac came together and succeeded in crafting a Public-Private Partnership that allowed Arizona's first state park to remain open and available to the public.

In our first three years of operation we have been financed by admissions fees, gift shop revenues, and substantial local donations. Our VOLUNTEERS have increased the operating hours of the Park, created a new self-guided walking tour, revitalized the exhibits, and enhanced the overall visitor experience. Come see for yourself!

    Tumacacori Mesquite Sawmill
There are over 40 species of mesquite located across the world. Tumacacori Mesquite Sawmill specializes in one known as Velvet Mesquite or Prosopsis Velutina. Since 1982, the ""Sawmill"" has been providing craftsmen, artisans, woodworkers, cabinet makers, custom home builders, all across the United States with our Velvet Mesquite. Our responsible harvesting program has stood the test of time and many of our clients and customers have confidence knowing that each tree harvested was a tree destined to come down - NO CLEAR CUTTING or harvesting of trees to simply profit! Our recent partnership with the Bureau of Land Management allowed us to participate in a program that helped to restore living conditions for the pronghorn antelope and rare migratory and grassland birds in a National Conservation Area in Arizona. The project also helped to stabilize watershed levels by capturing more rainwater, which eliminates soil erosion while maintaining the natural beauty!

Over the years, Tumacacori Mesquite Sawmill has become a destination in Southern Arizona. Because of the uniqueness of mesquite, many visitors are able to enjoy learning about our harvesting program and seeing the transformation from log to stunning heirloom pieces. Visitors may also see milling demonstrations and see our works and workers in process as they unveil the beauty beneath the bark.

Our largest draw is allowing the customer to participate in the lumber selection for their special project. It is an exciting part of building a unique custom interior. Customers are able to see the before piece specially selected, then see the transformation!

In 1944 Howard and Petra (Gomez) Wisdom opened the doors to Wisdom’s Café, alongside the old Nogales Highway, never imagining that their little café was destined to become a dining tradition three generations strong.

Because Petra’s father was a property owner in Tumacacori and gifted parcels of his land to his children and their spouses, the café is in a lovely location with a view of the Tumacacori Mountains to the west and the Santa Rita’s to the east. It started out as an L-shaped little place that served breakfast and housed a rowdy bar. And since Howard was a natural born cowboy and an athlete in the saddle, alongside the café he soon built a roping arena where bulldogging and rodeo champions came from around the U.S. and Mexico to show off their skills.
