    Arid Adaptations Nursery
Founded in 2012, Arid Adaptations is a local nursery specializing in cactus, succulents and caudiciforms. We also feature many plants that are frost and heat hardy--ideal for Arizona landscapes.

We have been growing plants in Tucson since 1992. The last ten years were at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum as a horticulturist in the botany department. As our personal plant collection began growing out of hand, it became obvious that a nursery was the only answer. With six greenhouses, 50,000 plants, lots of dogs, 15 chickens, turtles, and great landscaping we have a wonderful oasis in the desert.
Arid Adaptations also offers consultation, potted installations and design services.

    Civano Nursery
Civano Nursery is a family owned and operated business.

Civano Nursery has been open since 1999 and we have gone through a lot of changes over the years. Running a business can be a challenge, but it has been one that we have enjoyed every step of the way. Now gone from single, to married, to driving kids in a minivan! Life has taught me the importance of having a place that you can shop at that has a little something for everyone. That’s why we have a play area for the little ones, a putting green for the older ones and an abundance of plants for the avid gardener. If you don’t feel like digging a hole, no problem! We can design it, deliver it, and plant it for you.

The majority of the plants found at our garden center have been grown by my younger brother Nick at our 70 acre Sahuarita farm. He really has a passion for plants, and it shows in the quality and variety of plants that he chooses for each season. He has propagated some great new trees for smaller spaces: the Leslie Roy Mesquite (named after Dad), The Sweet Katie Burgundy Desert Willow (named after Nick’s wife), and The Doris D Willow Acacia (named after Mom).

How did we get here? Well, it all started with our Dad Les Shipley, who taught us the value of a hard day’s work and the joy of growing plants. At a very young age my brothers and I could be found running through the greenhouses or potting up plants. We’ve just always been exposed to agriculture and the joy of growing plants. Now it’s our turn to pass it down to our children and teach them what our father taught us. That’s why we strive to provide a family atmosphere that enlightens, inspires, and ultimately guides you to a successful garden.

    Rillito Nursery & Garden Center
Rillito Nursery and Garden Center is an independent, family owned and operated business that has provided customers in Tucson with a diverse inventory of quality plants and products since 1994.

The nursery is located in Northwest Tucson just south of the intersection of La Cholla Blvd and Orange Grove Road across from the Northwest Hospital Complex.

Plant products are displayed by plant type, size, and environmental requirements. An example is that the low water use plants are grouped together in an area separate from plants that thrive in the shade and need more water. Plant information signs are used extensively to assist you in making your selections.

You will find seven demonstration gardens throughout the nursery. We have a flower garden, a vegetable garden, an herb garden, a container garden, a water garden, a rose garden, and a desert garden.

These gardens are maintained by our staff year-round and provide a living display of what is possible in your landscape. Each garden provides a sampling of compatible plants at various stages of maturity.

There are areas in the nursery dedicated to pottery, trellises, and yard art. Watch for the sprinkling of these products along the walkways and in the gardens. There are 300 to 400 trees to choose from such as Palms, Citrus, Fruit, Mesquite, Palo Verde, Acacia, and other non natives.
